Shopify Website Design

A new store, built to sell from day one.

For businesses launching an online store for the first time, Shopify is often the right call. We design and build the store; Shopify handles everything running underneath it.

Why We Recommend Shopify for a Lot of New Stores

If you are starting a store from scratch and want to be taking real orders as quickly as possible, Shopify is usually the right platform. It is a hosted service, which means Shopify itself handles the server, the security, and the PCI compliance that comes with accepting payment cards online. You are not responsible for keeping software patched or worrying about the store going down because of something on the hosting side. That is a real weight off a business owner who wants to focus on the products, not the plumbing.

Shopify also comes with a genuinely large app ecosystem and a checkout that customers already trust and recognize, which matters more than people expect when someone is deciding whether to hand over a credit card number to a store they have never bought from before. For a business with a fairly standard product catalog selling physical or digital goods, Shopify gets out of the way and lets the store do its job.

A Custom Store, Not a Stock Theme

Plenty of Shopify stores online are an unmodified theme from the Shopify theme store with a logo dropped in, and it usually shows. We do not build it that way. We design the store around your actual products, your branding, and how you want a customer to move from browsing to checkout, then build that out on top of Shopify so it still gets all the benefits of the platform underneath it. The result looks and feels like your business, not a template with your name on it.

Being Honest About the Tradeoffs

Shopify is a monthly platform fee, not a one-time cost, and depending on the plan and the apps you add, there can be additional costs beyond the base subscription. You also have less low-level control than you would with a fully self-hosted store, since you are working inside Shopify's system rather than owning the software outright. For most new stores, the tradeoff of paying that fee in exchange for a faster launch and nothing to maintain yourself is worth it. If full ownership and no ongoing platform fee matters more to you than launch speed, our WooCommerce website design page is worth reading before you decide.

Already Selling on Shopify?

This page is about launching a new store. If you already have a Shopify store that is not working for you anymore, whether that is an outgrown theme, app costs stacking up, or wanting more control than Shopify allows, that is a different conversation, and our Shopify redesign and migration page covers that instead. For the broader picture on how we approach online stores, see our e-commerce website design overview.
