Ongoing Care

Website hosting and maintenance, handled by the person who built it.

A standing monthly plan that keeps your site fast, secure, and up to date, with a real person to reach when something needs to change instead of a ticket number and a queue.

What's Actually Included

A launched website isn't a finished project. It's a piece of software sitting on the internet, and software needs upkeep. Hosting and maintenance covers the parts of that upkeep most site owners never think about until something breaks: the server your site lives on, uptime monitoring so we know right away if it goes down, and security monitoring that watches for the kind of malicious traffic every public website deals with whether you notice it or not.

On the WordPress side, that also means keeping the core software, theme, and plugins updated. Skipping updates is one of the most common ways a WordPress site ends up hacked or broken, and it happens quietly, usually months after the last time anyone looked at it. On the custom-coded side, it means keeping the underlying framework and dependencies current so the site keeps running the way it was built to, instead of slowly falling behind.

Backups are part of the plan too, so if something ever does go wrong, a bad update, a plugin conflict, a hosting hiccup, there's a clean version to restore from instead of starting over. Beyond the technical side, this plan also covers small content changes: a new phone number, an updated hours section, a swapped-out photo, the kind of thing that shouldn't require you to remember how to log into a dashboard you haven't touched in a year.

Someone You Can Actually Reach

Most hosting and maintenance plans out there route you through a support ticket system, often staffed by someone who's never seen your specific site before and has to get up to speed on it before they can even start helping. If you're on a Higher Foundations hosting plan, you're reaching me, RJ, directly. I already know your site's structure, your content, and how it was built, because I'm the one who built it.

That matters more than it sounds like it should. A small content change that might take a stranger an hour of poking around to understand safely takes me minutes, because I already know exactly where everything lives and why it was built that way. And if something ever breaks, you're not explaining your business and your site from scratch to a new person every time you reach out.

The Natural Next Step, Not a Generic Add-On

Plenty of companies sell website maintenance as a standalone service they can attach to any site, built by anyone, on any platform. That's a different situation from what I'm offering here. When I maintain a site, it's one I already know inside and out, because I built it myself on WordPress and Elementor Pro or hand-coded it as a fully custom site. There's no ramp-up period where someone new has to reverse-engineer your codebase before they can safely touch it.

That's a big part of why this plan comes standard with every Higher Foundations build. It's not an upsell tacked on after the fact. It's the continuation of the same relationship that got your site built in the first place, priced as a straightforward monthly fee rather than a confusing menu of tiers and add-ons. You can see the kind of sites this applies to in our work, from a membership and booking system for a swim club to a photography portfolio built to let the photos do the talking. Different platforms, different scopes, all covered by the same kind of ongoing care once they're live.

What Happens Without It

Nothing dramatic happens the day after launch if a site goes unmaintained. That's exactly why it's easy to skip. The problems show up months later: outdated plugins nobody updated that create a real security gap, a small broken link nobody caught, a form that quietly stopped sending emails, or a hosting bill from a generic provider that keeps climbing without anyone managing it. By the time it gets noticed, it's usually a bigger fix than it would have been if someone had been keeping an eye on it the whole time.

A care plan is the difference between finding out about a problem from a customer who couldn't get in touch with you, and never having the problem reach that point at all.

Let's talk about a care plan for your site.

Whether your site is already live with us or you're planning a new build, we can figure out the right level of ongoing care for it together.
